Collet vs. Collet Body: What's the Difference?
The collet is the small, slotted sleeve that directly grips the tungsten electrode. The collet body is the threaded component that holds the collet inside the torch head and also directs the shielding gas flow around the tungsten. Both must be replaced as a matched pair when worn, as a worn collet body will not grip a new collet correctly.
