Before Replacing a Consumable, What Should You Read on the Pack?

Oct 22, 2026
What to Check on a Consumables Pack | WeldingStop
Read the label: generic consumables and an unbranded box on a workbench.

WeldingStop / 3-minute workbench guide

Before replacing a consumable,
what should you read on the pack?

The useful information is usually small: a part number, a torch name, a size and a quantity. Read those before the old part goes in the bin.

01 / Open each field below

A label worth slowing down for.

ILLUSTRATIVE READING CARD / MIG NOZZLE

01 / PART NUMBER
4295 +

Use the part number as your starting point. A seller SKU is an inventory reference; it is not automatically the manufacturer’s part number.

02 / TORCH FIT
Bernard-style 300B +

Match the gun or torch family and its installed configuration. A machine brand alone does not identify every torch fitted to it.

03 / SIZE
3/8-inch bore +

Read what the measurement describes. This nozzle bore is not a MIG wire diameter. For other consumables, the relevant field may be wire size, tungsten size or plasma amperage.

04 / CONTENTS
Check the listing +

Confirm quantity and included components. A nozzle pack and a complete consumable kit are different purchases. Keep any lot or order reference for traceability.

This is a reading aid using verified 4295 listing information, not an actual WeldingStop package label. Fields vary; consult the listing and torch manual when the pack is incomplete.

02 / The easy mistake

Looks right.
Still needs checking.

Colour and shape help you recognise a part. They do not confirm fit. Compare the number with the torch’s parts list, then check the relevant specification.

For MIG contact tips: wire diameter matters. For TIG parts: check the specified tungsten size and setup. For plasma: use the consumable set and amperage specified for the torch and process.

03 / Choose an answer to reveal why

Would you pick the right pack?

01 / Quick check

Same shape. Same part?

02 / Quick check

A nozzle says 3/8-inch bore.

03 / Quick check

A kit lists ten pieces.

04 / Read a real listing

4295 Gas Nozzle

Part: 4295 gas nozzle
Listed fit: Bernard-style 300B MIG/MAG torch
Dimension: 3/8-inch bore

Confirm your installed torch setup and the current pack contents before ordering. An aftermarket fit description does not mean the part is made by the original torch manufacturer.

05 / Tick before you order

Four checks. Fewer surprises.

All four reading checks are ticked. If anything is unclear, confirm it with the seller and the torch manual before ordering.

Use batch or order references if supplied. A barcode helps identify or track an item; it is not proof that the part fits your torch.
